Michigan
Gaylord Country Club, Gaylord
Treetops Resort, Gaylord
Located in the heart of the Northern Lower Peninsula, Gaylord is a scenic locale with rustic woods and pristine lakes. With 15 golf courses and 19 lodging facilities, which include world-class resorts and championship golf designed by some of America's top golf course designers, the area is a great golf destination. And with long, warm summer days continuing into early evening, it’s plain to see why it’s known as “America’s Summer Golf Mecca.”
There are so many golf options around Gaylord that you’ll want help in putting a golf package together. Lucky for you, the lodging properties and golf courses work together to create customized golfing experiences. Plus, with four resort destinations and 16 lodging properties within a 45-minute drive, the Mecca offers up something for everyone from high-quality hotels to resort lodging, along with fine dining to casual restaurants.
The first resort to be built in the area, Otsego Club and Resort, has 36 holes of golf, lodge rooms, two bedroom chalets, plus a bar and grille. Treetops Resort is home to five of the best golf courses in Michigan. They include Robert Trent Jones, Sr.'s final design, Michigan’s only Tom Fazio layout and three Rick Smith designed courses. The resort features hotel rooms, condos, a spa, restaurant, sports bar, plus The Treetops Golf Academy. The Loon Golf Resort offers three championship courses, four
bedroom townhouses, an award-winning restaurant and is home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf. The Natural is Beaver Creek Resort’s championship layout with upscale cabins located on the course.
The other member courses in the Gaylord Golf Mecca provide even more variety for a memorable golf vacation. Black Lake’s 18 holes were cut from a 1,000-acre forest retreat owned by the United Auto Workers. It’s a Rees Jones design. Michaywé Pines is an 18 hole classic layout that winds through birch and pine forests along the AuSable River. Two historic clubs are also not to be missed. Gaylord Country Club is a classic parkland design. Indian River Golf Club, established in 1922, provides a challenging, yet walkable layout. With all these options, it’s no wonder Golf Digest named Gaylord one of the best "buddy trips" in the country.
Located on the 45th parallel, the Alpine Village of Gaylord is unique in its centrality. It’s only minutes from top-notch shopping, music festivals and many outdoor recreational activities including hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking and more. Plus, Gaylord is an easy drive for much of the Midwest, located right off Interstate 75. And with many non-stop and one-stop flights arriving into Traverse City's Cherry Capital Airport, getting to Northern Michigan is easy. American, Delta, and United all fly in there and then it’s just a one hour drive to the Gaylord Golf Mecca.
